Fremantle is an Indian Ocean port city in Western Australia, 20 km from the state capital Perth & at the mouth of the Swan River. Locals nickname for Fremantle is "Freo"

First settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829, Fremantle was declared a city in 1929 it lies on a series of limestone hills.

Fremantle is named after Captain Charles Fremantle, the English naval officer who had pronounced possession of Western Australia & established a camp at the site. 

 

The weather & climate is normal for seaside communities & a regular sea breeze is known as the Fremantle Doctor provides a cooling effect & relief from the summer heat.
