The Justice & Police Museum is located a short walk from the Sydney Opera House so if you are down at Circular Quay getting you picture taken with the Opera House & the Bridge there is no reason not to drop by.

The building has a variety of history, it has been used as a Water Police Court, a Water Police Station, a Police Court, a Traffic Court & a number of other uses.
Currently there is a display about called Sin City which covers the history of organised crime in Sydney, which goes back to the early days of Sydney as a prison colony. It also includes recent events some of which will appear familiar if you watched the TV series Underbelly.
The Cells in the old building have been converted into a variety of displays covering the history of crime & also the history of the cops who caught the bad guys. One of the cells has been left in its original condition - very cosy.
The old front desk area has been left in its original condition - just as you have seen in old movies. Around the corner is the old inspector office which contains a crazy variety of weapons that have been collected over the years. Some of the mini guns are amazing.
The old court room is also open to have a look. You can sit in the judges chair, the witness stand & then sit behind bars in the cage.
Another room has been set up to show how the inmates where treated if the misbehaved.
To the right of the main foyer is a single room with a tribute to fallen police, a display of police awards & a collection of the many hats they have worn.
Overall the museum is well worth the visit.
