City Sightseeing Perth Bus Tour Welcome to Perth!! Its my first time here & I went for a bit of a walk around at the weekend but the best way to see Perth & get your bearings is on the City Sightseeing Perth Bus Tour Its a two hour trip around the CBD & surrounds of Perth. Unlike most bus tours which make you sit for the whole trip you can hop off & check out the sights & then hop on again when the bus comes around again. Some of the places to hop off are the Perth Mint & the Burswood Casino Complex. The best place to hop off & go for a walk is Kings Park. The Tour is actually two tours of about an hour each. One is around the CBD & out to Burswood over the beautiful Swan River. The other is up into the Kings Park area that overlooks the City. Each tour starts & ends at the Barrack St. Jetty ( no its not named after the guy running the USA ) This is the best place to hop on. You can also get picked up at any of the stops along the way, just check the map on the website for details. The Double Decker bus is alot of fun. If it looks familiar then you may have been on it before when it ran around Hong Kong. If the paint job of the bus looks familiar its because City Sightseeing Perth Bus Tour is part of a worldwide network with bus tours in over 80 Cities. One of the cool things about being in a Double Decker is you get to look down on the world & also get some great photos. Apart from being a great way to see Perth this tour also has a commentary playing during the trip which tells you where we are & a bit of the history of the area. One pic below looks like a big flat grass area & I was thinking you could land a plane on that. Then the voice over told us that's exactly what they used to do in the past. I also found out from a local that the grass strip is now used for the Red Bull Air Race each year as a landing strip. Your ticket is good for two days of hopping on & off. Also on the website there is some information about a combined tour which includes the bus tour, a ferry ride to Fremantle & a trip on the Tram around Fremantle. If you ask nicely you can get a ferry ride back from Fremantle also. While on the bus trip be sure to say Hello to the driver because as you can see from the pic below downstairs gets a bit lonely - everyone is upstairs enjoying the view. Pack the sun cream but leave the umbrella at the hotel - Perth is the sunniest capital city in the world so you have no worries tripping around in an open top Double Decker Bus.
