The Museum of Brisbane is located in the Southbank complex just over the river from the CBD in amongst all that Southbank has to offer. There are a variety of permanent displays & short term exhibits during the year, check out their website for the latest events. When I visited there was a display of the The Butterfly Man of Kuranda work which was amazing. He collected & displayed an amazing selection of insects & butterflies. The colours were fantastic. Pictures were not allowed but later on in the museum there is a small permanent display of his work & I got a couple of pics. The museum has a many static displays & stuffed animals to view, some feel a little dated but are still very interesting to view. There is a history of Aussie swimwear which makes me grateful I didn't got to the beach in years gone by - some very funny outfits. Part of the main floor is set aside for planes & vehicles including a 4 seat quad bike that was used by firemen to get to the fire If you are in Brisbane you are likely to be walking around Southbank - be sure to drop by the museum & check out the history of Queensland
