Glasgow is the largest city in
Scotland with a
backdrop of outstanding Victorian architecture & a location that made it a natural port for early transatlantic trade.
The people are friendly &
relaxed with a background of
lowland Scots, Irish, Highlanders, western Europeans & Italians. A large Asian community has
also settled adding to the culture of Glasgow & some say making it the curry capital of
Europe.

Glasgow's history dates
back to the first century when the Romans first set foot on Scottish soil.

At the turn of the 19th century
there was overcrowding in the tenement buildings which led to poor
living conditions.
Glasgow today has changed with clean tenements, green
parks & new housing & shopping developments across the city.
Art & culture are an important part
of life in Glasgow with many galleries & museums. Choices
includes the world's first Museum of Religion & the Burrell
Collection in Pollok Park.

outlets can take a couple of days
to explore but there are welcome stops in the cafes around the
Italian Centre, Merchant Square & the Gallery of Modern Art.

Glasgow's oldest standing house is the 'Provand's Lordship' which in the
early 19th century became a pub & later shops & a
warehouse before being saved from demolition in the 1920's.

Glasgow is home to the Scottish Ballet
& has a range of
entertainment venues including the Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre
& the Royal Concert Hall.
The people of Glasgow love their sports especially
football with the strong rivalry between Rangers & Celtic.
