Newcastle is the capital of the Hunter Region, a modern beachside city boasting a spectacular coastline. Discovered in 1797, Newcastle is the site of the second European settlement in Australia.
Australia’s sixth largest city, has some of Australia’s best beaches including Nobbys, Newcastle, Bar, Dixon Park, Merewether & Stockton Beaches All of which are within 5 km of the city centre & are patrolled. Before you visit Australia, while you are staying at Britannia Hotel Gatwick Airport waiting for your flight, it is probably the beaches which you will be thinking of. It is not surprising really that they have the reputation they do. When you arrive in Australia you will see for yourself just why they are so well loved. Newcastle in particular represents Australian beaches.
Newcastle’s spectacular coastline has been enhanced with the creation of the Bathers Way, a 5km coastal walk starting at Nobbys & finishing at Merewether Beach.
