Bay was named by Captain Cook after John Byron, the former whaling station is now a popular holiday resort
renowned for its surfing beaches.

The
town is partly protected from the sea by Cape Byron, Australia's most easterly
point & home to one of the most
powerful lighthouses in Australia.

can be found on either side of the town along with numerous rocky headlands
providing ideal fishing platforms.
