Canberra with a population of nearly 300, 000 is the nerve centre of the Australian
Federal Government,
a three hour
drive or a 45-minute flight from Sydney.
Set in a broad valley in the
southern tablelands of New South Wales, Canberra is a lakeside city
of parklands, restaurants, beautiful bush land & leafy suburbs.

The Australian Capital Territory,
or ACT as it is generally known, is an 88 km long & 30 km wide area that
contains the national capital.
Canberra was specifically planned
& built to be the home
of federal parliament, the serving politicians, ministeries & associated
public servants. The majority of foreign embassies & consulates are also located
there.

The northern part of the ACT is
dominated by Canberra, its man-made features such as Lake Burley Griffin & surrounding suburbs.
The southern region consists mainly of the Namadgi
National Park & the adjoining Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. The southern
boundary of the ACT is close to the New South Wales high country & the Snowy
Mountains ski fields.

Canberra's main attraction for visitors & locals is the way in which
it successfully combines a city lifestyle with beautiful native bush
land & fresh air. Often referred to as the "Bush Capital" because
of its natural bush setting, Canberra provides a stunning backdrop for
it's many attractions & annual events.
Canberra is famous for its politics, art & history, but you'll also
discover a city full of life & activity.
The city comes alive
when the sun sets with an array of nightlife & restaurants. Canberra has another secret too - its
boutique wineries, known for producing cool climate whites
& some pretty fantastic reds.
